Quick Summary

The Elon Smart Solar kit heats your existing 150 L Kwikot geyser directly from solar panels, no inverter or batteries. The smart thermostat lets you choose when Eskom may top up, so most heating happens on free solar. It also works during load shedding while the sun is out.

Savings: Most homes cut 60 to 80 percent of geyser electricity. A 150 L geyser uses about 7 kWh a day. At ~R3/kWh that is ~R630/month. The kit typically saves ~R380 to R500/month over a year.

How it works

 The Elon Smart replaces your Kwikot geyser’s thermostat and lets the solar panels heat the same element directly, no inverter or batteries. 
In the day it uses solar first to heat to your set temperature, then stops. If it is cloudy or at night, you can allow Eskom to top up only in the time windows you choose. 
The phone app shows water temperature, whether heating is on solar or grid, and lets you boost with grid if needed. Works with standard Kwikot elements and is sized for a small PV array.
