The MultiPlus-II has all the features of the MultiPlus, plus an external current transformer option to implement PowerControl and PowerAssist and to optimize self-consumption with external current sensing (max. 32A).
It also has all the features of the MultiGrid with built-in anti-islanding and an increasingly long list of country approvals.
The MultiPlus-II will prevent overload of a limited AC source, such as a generator or shore power connection. First, battery charging will automatically be reduced when otherwise an overload would occur. The second level will boost the output of a generator or shore side supply with power taken from the battery.
The MultiPlus-II is the key component in a Victron ESS system, providing the flexibility to combine with MPPT Solar Chargers or Grid-tie PV Inverters. For examples and more detailed information see the ESS (Energy Storage System) manual.
In the event of a grid failure, or when shore or generator power is disconnected, the inverter within the Multi is automatically activated and takes over the supply to the connected loads. This happens so fast (less than 20 milliseconds) that computers and other electronic equipment will continue to operate without disruption.
Monitor and control your Multi and system or systems' locally (LAN) or remotely via the internet from anywhere in the world, using the free VRM app and free VRM portal website. Access can be from a phone, tablet, laptop or PC for multiple operating systems. There is no end to the level of control, via the required Color Control GX or Venus GX, from adjusting your Multi to auto starting a back generator and more...

what protection has the 5kVA Victron inverter have on the DC bus input should a solar panel short circuit, typically with 9 x 450W panels installed. If no protection and a short circuit occurs will the mppt blow up.
Hi Kevin.
Since, the Victron MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70-50 is an inverter/charger, it does not include an integrated MPPT solar charge controller or direct DC solar input. It connects to the battery bank, and any solar panels must first feed into a separate MPPT charge controller (such as a Victron SmartSolar MPPT unit), which then regulates the voltage and current before charging the battery. in other words the protection will occur in the MPPT first. Victron MPPT's include protection features such as:
Reverse polarity protection
PV short circuit protection
Over-temperature protection
Over-voltage protection
So if using the correct MPPT, in the event of a panel short circuit:
• it will handle the fault safely and protect itself.
• The MultiPlus-II will not “blow up” because the panels are not connected to it directly.
Hi, I have pylon 3,5kw battery to go with this inverter. Do I need a battery monitor as well?
Hi Ahmed, GX device is required.
Either a Colour Control: https://www.solar-shop.co.za/control-and-monitoring/274-victron-colour-control-gx.html
or a Venus GX: https://www.solar-shop.co.za/control-and-monitoring/323-victron-venus-gx.html
Which Victron inverter supplys about 10 Kva power output.
