    Questions

    Question

Hi, Will a 5kw Sunsynk Inverter work with a 48v Lead acid battery bank?
I used to have a 5kv MicroCare inverter.

    Answer

Hi Paul, yes the Sunsynk can work with lead acid batteries.

    Question

Good evening, What is the difference in performance in plain simple explanation between a 3kWh and a 5kWh inverters… and is there a way to see on the inverter itself which one is 3KWh or 5 kWh (Is there a way to see which inverter is which?) Thanks you

    Answer

Hi Liezel, inverters are described in kW, not kWh. kWh measures energy storage capacity and applies to batteries.

kW's describe the amount of instantaneous power an inverter can deliver. The spec sheet of the model of inverter you have will tell you it's output power if it is not shown on the inverter itself.

You can see more here: https://www.solar-shop.co.za/content/30-the-difference-between-kwk-and-kwh

    Question

Hi there. If I wanted to use this as a home inverter running solely on batteries (without solar initially), could I do this with a single/double Hubble AM2 battery? (100ah). Also, what is the max charge rate in amps on AC charge?

    Answer

Hi Zach, yes you could. In fact, we offer this kit here: https://www.solar-shop.co.za/backup-power-kits/761-sunsynk-5kw-inverter-and-battery-package-solar-ready.html

You can charge the battery at 100A, but a slower charge will look after the battery better

    Question

Hi. Please advise if a ct coil is included with the 5kw inverter. Thanks

    Question

Good day, I have 24 x 325w Canadian Solar panels (4 strings of 6 panels) connected to a Solis 10 KW grid tie inverter. I would like to replace the Solis with a Hybrid Inverter. Can the 5kw Sunsynk work with my current setup?

    Answer

Hi, yes it can, although the panel production will clip at around 6500W.

    Question

Good Day - What make of panel and battery would you recommend to complete the system ?

    Answer

Hi Greg, at this time, Sunsynk are offering an extended warranty of 10 years if you buy this inverter together with a Sunsynk battery:

    https://www.solar-shop.co.za/147-sunsynk-batteries

The Freedom Won e-Tower is also good match: https://www.solar-shop.co.za/freedom-won-lithium-ion-batteries/657-freedom-won-etower-lifepo4-battery-5kw-52v.html

as is the Hubble AM-2: https://www.solar-shop.co.za/hubble/527-hubble-55kw-lithium-am-2.html

In terms of panels, our JA Solar or Canadian Solar panels are both equally good, so any of these will be suitable.

    Question

Morning Could I eventually push power back to Eskom if I want to at a later stage

    Answer

Hi Melvin, yes this inverter is capable of doing this.

    Question

I have a micro inverter setup installed (Hoymiles 1.2kW) in a grid tied configuration. This needs a reference power signal (aka Eskom) in order to output power to my local grid. Is it possible to use the Sunsynk inverter to act as a source (ie. grid connection in anti-islanding mode) so that the generated power from the solar array can be used (during load shedding) either as self consumption or to charge batteries? My plan is to add backup battery supply for use in evenings, and also to accommodate during load shedding. Please advise if this could be done. Thanks!

    Answer

Hi Frans, yes it is. The Sunsynk has an auxiliary port for this purpose.

    Frans on 08/02/2022 14:00:00
    Question

Do these allow for parallel operation e.g 2x 5kW systems to sum up to 10kW, this is for extra reliabilty in a remote off grid location incase one fails.

    Answer

Hi Matthew, yes the units can be paralleled.

    Question

Hi, do I need to purchase a communication cable with this, to use it with the pylontech 2.4kw battery? There is a battery cable kit on this site, but it mentions that the communication cable is no longer included.

    Answer

Hi Bruno, no. The Sunsynk comes with a CAN cable you can use for this purpose.

    Question

Hi, thanks for the answer. So i i assume if the demand is more than 30 minutes and greater than peak, i.e. between 5-8kw, it will then switch to grid completely meaning it wont split the load (5kw solar and 3kw grid). For the 8kw, what is then the peak?

    Answer

    Hi Yash

    That is correct, yes.
The 8kW has a 190A pass through, which is much larger than any standard single-phase household feed.
    Yash on 16/02/2021 22:56:00
    Question

Hi, what happens if power demand is greater than 5KW, say 8KW. Can it pull the extra 3KW from the grid?

    Answer

Hi Yash, it will operate normally up to 5000W. Then up to 5500W for half an hour. Between 5.5kW and 8kW it will switch over to pass through and use only electricity. Above 8kW it will shut down completely.

    Yash on 15/02/2021 21:47:00
    Question

Can the Sunsynk 5kW Hybrid inverter operate and supply power to the house without AC power from the Grid?

    Hi Lloyd, yes it can.

    Question

Does the Sunsynk inverter have two MPPT trackers? Is it transformerless? Does it have a heat sink or fan or what cooling system does it have?

    Answer

Hi Louis. Yes, 2 MPPT's, transformerless and fans for cooling.

    Question

Regarding the pass through of 35A, is this in addition to the inverter's 25A for a max output of 60A total? Or is the total maximum 35A?

    Answer

    Hi Phillip, it's a max of 35A.

    Question

Good Day, So the WIFI Module is include? What is the warrantee on the unit?

Hi Rossouw, yes the wifi dongle is included. The manufacturers warranty is 5 years.

    Question

I assumed that this inverter can only handle a peak power of 200% capacity for +- 10 seconds. Yet is says Peak power off-grid is 2 times the rates power. So what is the peak power on-grind? Or is it the same? What I also don't understand is that the spec sheet said Max Continuous AC passthrough (A) = 35A. Does this mean that if the normal rating of 5000Watt is exceeded for to long then it will "by pass" and only use Grid power to support a load of up to +- 8000 Watt (35 Amp)? Or is the Max power on-grid over 10000watt? Also why does the spec sheet say that Rated AC Output is 5000W, but Max AC. Power is 5500w? Does this mean that it can handle 5500Watt load continuously?

    Answer

    Hi Frank

    Peak power = 10kW for 10 seconds

Passthrough @ 35A refers to when the inverter is connected to grid power. In this case the backup load can pull 35A e.g. 35A @ 230V = 8.05KW

Rated power = 5kW (this is your max continuous draw in backup mode (during grid failure)

Max power = 5,5kW should not be operted at this level for more than 30 minutes.
