The Victron SmartSolar MPPT RS 450/200-MC4 VE.Can is a premium high-voltage solar charge controller engineered for 48V DC battery systems connected to large, high-power PV arrays. Utilising ultra-fast Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technology, it continuously monitors and maximises the power output from your solar arrays, adjusting rapidly to changing light conditions to deliver optimal energy harvest for both grid-connected and off-grid battery installations.
Four Independent MPP Trackers
Equipped with four independent MPPT tracking inputs, this controller offers total flexibility when designing large solar arrays. The quad-tracker architecture allows for the ideal management of multiple strings facing different orientations, strings of unequal lengths, or arrays subjected to localised partial shading conditions, ensuring each string performs at its peak efficiency without dragging down the performance of others.
Galvanic Isolation and Array Protection
Safety is central to the design of the SmartSolar RS series. It features full galvanic isolation between the PV arrays and the battery connections, providing robust protection across the entire system. Furthermore, the unit is equipped with continuous PV isolation resistance monitoring, which constantly scans the PV array for insulation faults and safely shuts down charging while sending an automatic notification if a risk is detected.
VE.Can Bus and Network Synchronisation
With integrated VE.Can bus ports, multiple units can be easily daisy-chained together using standard RJ45 cables to operate as a single, fully synchronised charging system. Up to 25 units can run in parallel, ensuring perfectly coordinated charging states across a massive battery bank. Real-time performance data can be seamlessly fed into a GX monitoring device (such as the Cerbo GX) for full site aggregation and remote control through the Victron Remote Management (VRM) portal.
Local Display and VictronConnect App Control
An integrated front-panel display provides instant visual telemetry, including battery voltage, total charging current, and individual string parameters. For deeper historical monitoring and setup, built-in Bluetooth enables swift connection via a smartphone or tablet using the VictronConnect app. This allows users to easily customise battery profiles, manage firmware updates, and view a detailed 30-day history of solar yield and tracker statistics.
