Lithium Black is made of a specific formulation of minerals and salts.
This distinctive formulation does the following to a lithium-ion battery fire:
- Extinguishes the fire.
- Brings the temperature of the batteries down to 80ᵒC.
- Keeps on cooling the battery.
- Interferes with the chemical reaction of the battery.
- Interferes with the oxygen radicals released by the lithium.
- Covers the battery to prevent gasses escape.
- Discharges the battery to prevent re-ignition later.
