The Victron Cerbo GX MK2 represents the evolution of premium energy management, serving as the ultra-powerful core for sophisticated off-grid, marine, automotive, and commercial grid-tied power networks. Built upon a rugged dual-core processor platform, this communication hub unifies multi-brand system electronics into a singular, highly cohesive operational interface. By continuously processing data streams from solar arrays, battery banks, auxiliary generators, and utility connections, the Cerbo GX MK2 dynamically adjusts load limits, schedules backup generator starts, and minimises structural running costs through advanced algorithmic control.
Key Hardware Advancements of the MK2
Engineered to directly succeed the original industry-standard Cerbo GX, the MK2 edition incorporates critical structural and electronic upgrades based on intensive field feedback:
Dual Isolated VE.Can Topology: Features two completely functional, independent CAN bus networks (VE.Can 1 and VE.Can 2). Crucially, the VE.Can 1 port is now fully isolated, mitigating the risk of ground-loop interference in complex installations, while the dual interface provides expanded bandwidth for native RVC and commercial BMS-Can communications.
Fully Unlocked USB Interface: All three on-board USB ports are now completely operational for peripheral communication. This permits the simultaneous use of multiple external accessories—such as additional USB-to-VE.Direct interfaces, external Wi-Fi transceivers, or Modbus/RTU energy meters—without sacrificing the port designated for external screen power.
Rotated RJ-45 Sockets: The physical ethernet and VE.Bus network sockets have been rotated 180 degrees. This spatial rearrangement simplifies deployment within shallow distribution boards, allowing rapid cable termination and painless removal of RJ-45 locking tabs in confined spaces.
Digital Pulse Counting: The four integrated digital inputs have been upgraded to support precise pulse counting. This unlocks native integration for flow meters, fluid volume profiling, or physical safety enclosure cycle sensors directly within the monitoring environment.
Universal System Interconnectivity
The Cerbo GX MK2 effortlessly synchronises with local hardware displays or remote tracking engines. It pairs natively with the ultra-slim, waterproof GX Touch 50 and GX Touch 70 touchscreen monitors via a single HDMI and USB umbilical cable, establishing a clean, modern command console. For maritime networks, built-in NMEA 2000 compatibility and Signal K support allow the system telemetry to stream straight to multi-function glass bridge chartplotters. Connectivity is fully rounded out by built-in local Wi-Fi access point functionality, Bluetooth Smart pairing for rapid localized setup via the VictronConnect app, and a physical Ethernet port.
Remote Management Portal (VRM)
When bridged to an internet connection via local LAN, Wi-Fi, or an optional GX LTE 4G cellular modem, the Cerbo GX MK2 uploads real-time parameters directly to the Victron Remote Management (VRM) portal. This free cloud ecosystem gives system operators absolute command from anywhere in the world. Users can review comprehensive historical trends, execute remote firmware updates, program automated alarms, and access the "Remote Console"—a perfect pixel-for-pixel virtual replication of the local touchscreen interface that allows offsite engineers to reconfigure settings without executing a physical site visit.
