Questions

questions Mark H on 15/07/2020
Question:

HI Does the KODAK Solar Off-Grid Inverter VMIII 5KVA/5KW 80A MPPT 48V have the ability to supply higher capacity (above 5kVA without sounding alarm / cutting out) when grid power is active. I'm not sure of the technical terms for this, but it is basically bypassing the 5kVA unit capacity when on Eskom power. Thanks

Answer:

Hi Mark, no it doesn't; except for a few seconds of 100% surge power for motor startup, etc.

questions Avin on 14/07/2020
Question:

What is the minimum solar panel Voc that is required for the inverter to supply AC power when no batteries and no mains are available?

Answer:

Hi Avin, the inverter needs 120Vdc minimum on the solar panel inputs in order to operate.

For example if you were using Canadian Solar 365W panels whose Voc is 47.2V, you would need three of these minimum to get the MPPT in the inverter going. (3 x 47.2 = 141.6V)

questions Axel on 22/06/2020
Question:

Hey, quick question please. Can the VMIII work without battery's?

Answer:

Hi Axel, it can yes.

questions phillip on 15/04/2020
Question:

Thanks for the reply , my question is not so much related to the connection method of the unit to the Pylontech , but the ability of the inverter to properly communicate SOC. I have read some Voltronic King inverters have a specific PYL setting that can be selected in the programming to fully communicate with BMS. This is what I would prefer.

Answer:

Hi Philip, yes both the King and the 5kW VMIII have direct comms with the Pylontech US2000 or US3000

questions Phillip on 14/04/2020
Question:

Quick question , does this unit fully recognize the pylontech battery range via CANBUS ? Thanks for all the help.

Answer:

Hi Phillip, the inverter and the battery don't use the CAN bus in this case but rather they communicate using the RS485 ports on each product.

questions Jannie on 20/01/2020
Question:

Good day. Can you please clarify the monitoring options the inverter comes with. How does the bluetooth work and is wi-fi available for online monitoring?

Answer:

Hi Jannie. The Bluetooth works with an app you can download on Android. You have to be within a few metres of the inverter for this to work. It also has a detachable LCD panel but this needs to be physically connected to the inverter with a network cable. There is no Wi-Fi monitoring available

questions Jannie on 17/01/2020
Question:

Can you confirm whether this inverter allows solar power to operate during a grid outage during the day, when connected to batteries?

Answer:

Hi Jannie, yes that is what it does. The solar can operate with or without grid power

questions Lourens Maree on 06/11/2019
Question:

Good day Does it support parallel connections? Regards

Answer:

Hi Lourens, no it doesn't. The MKSII and the King support parallel connections though.
