More info

The US3000 is a HESS battery system provided by Pylontech, developed with their own lithium iron phosphate cell to ensure the highest safety value and most promising life cycle. A self-designed BMS protects the cell from abnormal temperature, current, voltage, SoC and SoH.

Advantages

  • Vertical industry integration ensures more than 4500 cycles with 90% DoD or 6000 cycles with 80% DOD (please note most devices will set the DOD at 80%)
  • Compact and fashionable design fits in your home environment
  • Deliver up to 5KW* with a single module (3.5KWh) - * please note this value is inverter/charger dependant, typically the maximum achieved value is 1.8kW per battery
  • Modular design gives the end customers the power of choice of capacity
  • Compatible with a large number of Hybrid inverters
  • Simple buckle fixing minimize the installation time and cost
  • Safety Cert.TÜV CE UN38.3

You can now register the Pylon US3000 for an additional 3 years of manufacturer warranty for free. Go to http://www.pylontech.com.cn/service/support and complete the information in the 'sign up battery' page.

Questions

questions Andrew on 09/06/2020
Question:

Is the Pylon US3000 compatible with an InfiniSolar 3KW Plus Inverter?

Answer:

Hi Andrew. The battery will work with this inverter, but you won't have access to the actual battery management system unless you add this Inverter Control Centre:

Question:

Please help Is there a way to check whether a battery is new and has not done many cycles Even if it looks new from outside Thanx Dougie

Answer:

Hi Dougie, there is, but it is by no means simple.

questions David Fair on 10/05/2020
Question:

I have 2 pylontech us3000 batterys and a goodwe 5048D ES hybrid inverter on my hybrid solar system it has 12 solar panels which will provide adequite energy in daytime. Will the batterys supply enough energy to power a 18000 btu air con at night for 10 hours or would I need more of these batterys if so how many.Thank you in advance for your reply

Answer:

Hi David

An 18000BTU aircon can use up to 2.5 Units per hour, so worst case scenario it could consume 25 Units. Your batteries store a usable3 units each, so in the is case you would need around 8 batteries.

With a well insulated room and modern aircon this figure could look more like 4 units. You can't calculate what the actual power usage will be - you can only measure what you actually use.

questions Leon on 15/03/2020
Question:

My house load is split in Essential and non Essential loads. Essential load need 400w/h from 17h00 to 22h00 and 255w/h from 22h00 to 17h00 while Eskom power is on. On battery power at night time the 400w/h can be reduced 300w/h. During day time when Sun is up the Solar must cover the Essential need which is very little as you can see and on rainy days Eskom must supply balance. Question: What 3 or 5 Kw/h inverter can you recommend that that would allow me to divert excess power from (4 x 330 panels or maybe more) to non essential load and or back to Eskom. I noted that some Victrons have 2 AC outputs for this purpose but would not want to go that expensive route. I suppose a 3.5 li-ion would be enough tpo carry 5/6 hours backup. Thanks Leon.

Answer:

Hi Leon. A 3.5 li-ion is 80% usable so you have 3500Wh x 0.8 = 2800Wh. Divide by 300W and you are left with 9.33 hours of use. You could use any 48V inverter here:https://www.solar-shop.co.za/70-voltronic-axpert-inverters They all accept solar panels.

questions Pierre on 11/02/2020
Question:

I have a 3KVA axpert inverter and aprox R25k budget for batteries, what do you advise to get. Pierre

Answer:

Hi Pierre, this is the only 24V Pylontech available: https://www.solar-shop.co.za/pylontech/286-pylon-us2500-24kwh-li-ion-battery-24v.html

We don't generally recommend lead acid batteries at all these days.

questions Deon on 11/11/2019
Question:

How many US3000 3.5kwh batteries needed to replace 8 x 105kwh 6v batteries?

Answer:

HI Deon, assuming a DOD of 50% on the lead acid batteries, in terms of capacity you would just need one. However the max power draw from a single battery would be 1.7kW

questions Richard on 10/10/2019
Question:

Hi want to buy the pylon 3000 battery from you but first want to know how the axpert mks 5kw inverter works with it. Or is the Kodak vmlll a better one to buy want to do it right from the word go as I have wasted money before. By the way, your JA solar panels are really value for money

Answer:

Hi Richard. The MKSII needs the ICC control module in order to operate the batteries optimally. It will still work without it, but you will never have a very accurate idea of the battery SOC and SOH. You can parallel MKSII's if you need to increase overall power. The VMIII talks directly to the Pylontech, so you don't need the ICC but you can't parallel the VMIII. The King can both speak to the batteries and be paralleled, but the MPPT design means you have to parallel up your panels in groups of two

Question:

Is the Li1ion US3000 compatible with the Goodwe hybrid inverter, Type: GW5048D-ES? Would this be a good option for a small 2 bedroomed home with solar heating for hot water? What would be your recommendation for the Goodwe?

Answer:

Hi John, yes the Goodwe and the Pylontechs go hand-in-hand. We recommend this combination.

questions Mervin Pearce on 21/05/2019
Question:

How does one Pylon US3000 compare to say 4 x 250Ah Gell Batteries?

Answer:

Hi Mervyn. Pylon US3000: Usable capacity = 3.5kWh x 0.8 = 2.8kWh (at recommended discharge of 80% DOD). Current operation at 0.5C, ie 37Amps @48V per battery. Cycles @ 80% discharge >4500. Warranty 10 years manufacturers. Omnipower 240Ah Gel: Usable capacity = 12kWh *0.5 = 6KWh (at recommended discharge of 50% DOD. Current: variable (high will lower overall storage capacity. Cycles @ 5)% discharge:

Question:

Hi, there.. Can the US2000B and US3000B be used together (combined)?

Answer:

Hi, yes, they can.

questions Kish on 13/02/2019
Question:

Hi - just to check that I understand the 3.5kwh rating properly... if running to 80% DoD, that means this unit delivers 2.8kwh? Secondly, please clarify what the 5kw vs 1.8kw rating is? Is the max achievable discharge rate? Lastly, is this compatible with the Axpert 3kva 48v and 5kva 48v hybrid inverters? Thanks.

Answer:

Hi Kish. Yes, that's correct, 2.8kWh. They can surge at around 100A for 15 seconds = 100 x 50V - 5kW. (this limit is to protect the battery cells). Their recommended everyday use is 37A, i.e. around 1.8kW.They'll work quite happily with these inverters and in fact are guaranteed by Pylontech provided certain settings are maintained on the Axperts.
