Lithium ion batteries have the advantage over traditional lead acid in that they can be cycled many times more and can be discharged deeper while maintining a decent battery life.

The Pylontech batteries in this kit are one of the best sellling lithium ion batteries in South Africa, and if you register your purchase with Pylontech, you can get a 10 year manufacturers warranty for no additional charge.

Please see "PACK CONTENT" at the bottom of the page for the contents of this kit.

For those not overly familiar with electrical power, this systemcan store around 3.8 Units of electricity in the batteries.

This means that at during a power failure, you could watch a 300W TV for about 10 hours before the batteries went flat (300W x 15 hours = 4500Whrs = 4.5 Units of electricity)

OR

you could run 40 x 5W LED globes for 15 hours (5W x 40 x22 hours = 4400Whrs = 4.4 Units of electricity)

OR

a 2000W kettle for an 3 hours straight (2000W * 2.25 hour = 4500Whrs = 4.5 Units of electricity) *Not sure why you would do that but who knows?*

OR

any combination of the above that adds up to 4.5 Units.

The system will switch from grid power to battery power automatically upon grid failure and automatically back to grid when power returns. The batteries will then automatically recharge.

Question

I have 6 * 315w panels installed, will this be sufficient for the inverter and batteries to function properly?

Answer

Hi Petrus, yes it will. Correctly installed, the panels can produce up to 10kWh's per day. The batteries will store 4.8kWh's of thisproduction.

Question

Hi, thanks for the informative site. For the battery backup kit you offer, which is the inverter with 2 Lithium Ion batteries, is it a future option to link solar panels to the same inverter? Regards

Answer

Hi Sugen. Yes, absolutely. It's essentially just this kit: https://www.solar-shop.co.za/diy-kits/375-kodak-vmiii-lithium-ion-solar-kit-5kw-48kwh-storage-2kwp-solar.html without the panels.
